Founder's Day

Dixon's Annual Founder's Day Celebration will be Monday, April 11th. Dinner will be at 6 pm.with the FREE program starting at 7 pm. This year's topic is "The Bloody Gulch Murder"

Once you get off of I-88 heading into the great town of Dixon the first intersection you see hangs the sign Bloody Gulch Rd. Daunting and welcoming, it has a story behind it! It was September 1885, and a farmer noticed that his cattle were skittish. As it turns out, there was a reason for the animals' unrest. In a ditch near the road was the body of 17-year-old  Frank Thiel, a traveling Bible salesman from Elgin, Illinois.

To learn more about the road that introduces you to our town, come to Founder's Day for this educational program. It will be presented  by John Thompson with special guest John Thiel's, the great nephew of the victim Frank Thiel.

Soups and sandwiches provided by Ginkgo Tree will be available for purchase.
