Weekly News Update -- Sept. 4

Well, a few weeks have now past from the Mumford & Sons weekend and I think we are finally recovered and back to normal at the Main Street office. Scarecrow Festival planning is well underway, the office is getting put back together, and our voicemail is finally no longer full!

We would again like to say a sincere thank you to all the people that helped to make the weekend happen -- which was basically the entire community. The support and dedication to helping make the event happen was amazing. DMS alone had more than 700 volunteers donating more than 3,000 hours to make the festival happen. Thank You! Please join us a the Sept. 19 Lunch and Learn at Noon at the Post House Ballroom to hear more about the festival. We hope to make the donations to the many clubs and organizations that helped that weekend on that day, too.

You can share your thoughts on the festival through our survey at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/YTWFZYB

And finally ... Dixon Main Street has 5 of the streetlight banners available from the Gentlemen of the Road Dixon Stopover. We are auctioning off these 5 banners as a fundraiser for our events and programs (things like our Christmas Walk, Scarecrow Festival, 4th Grade History Program, Halloween events and much more). Let the bidding begin!http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=mumford+and+sons+banner&_sacat=0

We also have the 11x17 posters available for a $10 donation. Get those at the DMS office or at Scarecrow Festival on Sept. 29. A limited number is available.

Musical Fridays Presented by Community State Bank
Sept. 7 -- This week's artist is Robbie LeBlanc. Join us every Friday at Noon on the Riverfront from June - September. The full schedule is on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/dixonmainstreet. This is the first year we have held Musical Fridays in September!

Reagan Trail Days!
Just a week before the Mumford & Sons invasion, we held the annual Reagan Trail Days Festival presented by Midland States Bank. The event was another great success this year as the wine tasting, ice cream social, community picnic, gala and downtown festival proved once again to be very popular. Mark your calendar for next year's RTD from August 6-11, 2013.
