iO Theatre Show and More!

DMS and the Historic Dixon Theatre are teaming up again for their annual comedy show! This year, we are working the the iO Theatre out of Chicago to bring their famous and heralded musical comedy "Cupid Has A Heart On: A Musical Guide to Relationships" to the Dixon Theatre on Friday, Nov. 4 at 8 p.m.

The Chicago Tribune says, "'Cupid' is full of wit and zest!" and it has been playing to sold out shows on the weekends at the iO Theatre in Chicago for 3 years! This fantastic comedy-musical is a sure comedy hit. Tickets are just $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Oct. 23 -- Do you have your team ready for the The Ultimate Tailgate Cook-off and Bags Tourney at the Beanblossom Parking Lot on Oct. 23? Can anyone beat 3-time defending People's Choice champion Alley Loop? Featuring three cooking categories this year: Chili, Salsa and BBQ. Oct. 29 -- Monster Breakfast at the Post House Ballroom! Come and dine with costumed characters during our 2nd Annual Monster Breakfast from 7 a.m. - 10 a.m. Feast on pancakes, eggs and sausage by Mama Cimino's for just $4 for adults and $2 for kids, take a $1 off if you come in costume! Then walk down to Haymarket Square for the Noon Lion's Club annual Halloween Parade at 10 a.m.. And then following the parade, the Dixon YMCA will have games and activities for the kids at Haymarket Square. A great spook-tacular event!

Nov. 1 -- The monthly Main Street Mornings has a new name and time as we switch the meeting time to 5 p.m. to accommodate more of the business community. Main Street's Shop Talk informal merchants meeting will be held at Books on First with free coffee and treats thanks to C&N Supply. Come and join the conversation at 5 p.m.. as we share issues that may be affecting your business. A great way to network and get free advice from your fellow business owners.

Dec. 2 -- Dixon Main Street and the Dixon Chamber of Commerce are proud to present the annual Christmas Walk from 6-9 p.m. All of the traditional sights and sounds will be on display, including the tree lighting ceremony at KSB, the madrigal singers from DHS, cookie decorating and much more. Then come back downtown on Dec. 3 for Breakfast with Santa at the Post House Ballroom and the annual Dixon Municipal Band concert that evening at the Historic Dixon Theatre.

Dec. 5 -- "A Family Christmas" is a special Christmas concert for the whole family on Monday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Historic Dixon Theatre. The concert features traditional and contemporary holiday songs and is a great all-ages show. Mark and Gretch Hladish are the resident musicians for Millie's Restaurant and Shopping Village in Lake Delavan, Wis. and along with Jo Hodges, are sure to create a wonderful evening of holiday songs to enjoy. Help DMS, Help Dixon, Help Local Businesses -- And all you have to do is get a Dixon Money Saver Coupon Book for $5! These coupon books have the potential to not only benefit Dixon Main Street by helping us raise funds for our events and programs, but they will drive traffic to our local businesses and then in turn increase the local sales tax and then in turn benefit our schools, roads, and infrastructure. Yes, buying a $5 book has a much broader impact on the community than you might realize!

Oct 14-- A Party for Art Guest Bartending night is set at the Stables as a fundraiser for the Next Picture Show from 6-10 p.m.
Oct 15 -- 5th Annual Save the Boobies Pub Crawl by First Street Pub. The crawl runs from 3-7 p.m. in downtown Dixon with proceeds going to support cancer research and local non-profit organizations that help those affected by cancer. For details, contact First Street Pub.
Oct 16 -- "Tales from Beyond the Grave" 3rd Annual Cemetery Walk provides guided historical tours of Oakwood Cemetery. Characters dressed in period costume give a first person account of people who contributed to the early days of the City of Dixon. The Grand Army Court of the Civil War's fallen heroes will be honored. $5 donation per person for cemetery restoration. Children 12 and under free. Sponsored by Dixon Tourism & Lee Co. Genealogical Society.
Oct. 16 -- KSB Hospital is having its Emergency Department/Surgery Open House from 1-4 p.m. The public is invited for tours and refreshments beginning with the opening ceremony at 1 p.m.
Oct. 20 -- Please welcome WildflowerPicks Photography to downtown Dixon as they will host an open house on Thursday, Oct. 20 from 5-7 p.m. Their studio is at 109 S. Hennepin Ave.
Oct. 22 -- The Dixon Lioness Fall Auction will be held at 6 p.m. at the VFW in Dixon. Proceeds will go to support the Lioness Club's efforts in the community.
Closed for Renovations: Touch of Thai will be closed for about 17 days for renovations to the dinning room.
