Busy Weekend Ahead for DMS

Here comes a busy weekend for Dixon Main Street! First, the Community-Wide Garage Sales are Friday and Saturday. Maps will be available in this Wednesdays Telegraph and at Books on First, Waterfront Gifts and Butcher Block Antiques. Thanks to Sauk Valley Properties for sponsoring this event!

And on Saturday is the Art with Flavor benefit for Shining Star, Dixon Main Street and Dixon Riverfront. The event will be a unique evening focused on highlighting great food and great art, all the while raising funds for Shining Star, Dixon Main Street, and the Dixon Riverfront. Tickets for the event will be $100 per person. Attendees will not only have great dinner and drinks, but each guest will receive a $100 auction voucher for the night.With only 48 tickets available, early reservations are encouraged. April 27-28 -- The City-Wide Garage Sales are back, sponsored by Sauk Valley Properties. April 28 -- Art With Flavor at The Crystal Cork Wine Shoppe in downtown Dixon at 7 p.m. on April 28. Reservations can be made by calling Dixon Main Street at 288-2308, The Crystal Cork at 285-3496, or Trein's Jewelry at 284-6626. May 1 -- Shop Talk at Books on First from 5- 6 p.m. Join area merchants in this informal get-together to talk about issues effecting local businesses. A great networking opportunity to learn from your peers. Free refreshments thanks to Books on First and C&N Supply! May 16 -- Lunch and Learn at the Post House Ballroom at Noon. May’s Lunch & Learn program will be The Next Picture Show, its sponsor will be Edward Jones Investments, courtesy of Kim Pettygrove & Chad Weigle, and the caterer will be Mama Cimino's. Cost is just $3. May 24 -- 5th Annual DMS Golf Outing presented by Sauk Valley Bank at Timber Creek with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. A few quick notes from around the community. . . April 23 -- World Book Night at Books on First. Free books to be handed out in the community. May 3-5 -- Salamandra Restaurant is celebrating their 10 year anniversary in downtown Dixon. Come and celebrate with them during their customer appreciation weekend. May 4 -- The Dixon Chamber of Commerce will hold a Cinco de Mayo fiesta gala on Friday, May 4 at 6 p.m. at the Dixon Elks Lodge. The event will feature cocktails, dinner, dessert, live & silent auction. Business casual attire; $55 per person. RSVP by April 18 to the Chamber at 815-284-3361. May 12 -- Second Saturdays Art Happenings, 6-8 p.m. in downtown Dixon. Be on the lookout for the Bikes! May 12 – The Champions4Children Walk in conjunction with Shining Star Children’s Advocacy Center and the Children’s Advocacy Center of Illinois (CACI) will be held at 10 a.m. at Lowell Park in Dixon. The Walk will raise money, through pledges and sponsorships, for the 38 Children’s Advocacy Centers in Illinois, which serve 95 of the state’s 102 counties.
