Dixon's 24th Annual
Christmas Walk to feature annual Snowball Drop, Community Caroling, Reindeer and
much more!
The 24th Annual Christmas Walk has been set for Friday, Nov.
30 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. This year’s event is being brought to you by Dixon Main Street
and the Dixon Chamber of Commerce. The festivities kick-off as Santa will
arrive in downtown Dixon at KSB Hospital
at 6 p.m. for a tree lighting ceremony. The walk also features specials and
give-aways at many of the downtown stores and, of course, the traditional
horse-and-wagon rides will be available from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. that night.
After walking through the streets and taking in the atmosphere,
families will get a chance to win a bounty of cash and prizes at the Great
Snowball Drop at 7 p.m. at the corner of First and Ottawa. More than 3000 "snowballs"
will drop from the sky and festival goers will get to catch a snowball for a
chance at great prizes ranging from a $500 shopping spree to gift certificates
to Dixon
businesses. The drop will have a new and improved method of scattering the
snowballs thanks to Dixon Paint Company and ACE Hardware.
"The Great Snowball Drop is the can't miss event of the
night," said Josh Albrecht, DMS executive director. "It is just going
to keep getting better every year. The top prize of a $500 shopping spree to
the business of the winners choice will be a great prize."
There will be a limit of 3 balls per person and everyone
will be able to claim their prizes the night of the event.
A new addition to this year's activities will be the chance
for kids to meet a few of Santa's reindeer at the corner of First and Hennepin
Ave. Festival goers will be able to get pictures taken and meet these great
holiday helpers.
At 8 p.m., join the Community Christmas Caroling at the
corner of First and Hennepin as a group singing of several traditional songs
will be song.
All night long 50/50 raffle tickets will be available. Last
year's winner took home nearly $3,500. Tickets will be available at several
downtown businesses and at the Raffle Tent outside of Books on First.
Also on Friday night, check out activities like cookie
decorating at C&N Supply, Hot Wheels races at Sherwin-Williams, balloon
artists, and much, much more. A full listing
and details will be available online at www.dixonmainstreet.com soon.
Come back downtown on Saturday for Breakfast with Santa at the
Lee County Senior
