Sunday, August 3 – Sunday by the River as part of the 2-Day Lyle Lovett music event celebrating the 5-year anniversary of the Dixon Riverfront will have Dirt Simple at 4:30 p.m., Oliva Dvorak and her band at 6:45, and Danika Holmes playing at 9:00. Gates open at 4:00. There will be food from local vendors and drinks from The Crystal Cork. Tickets are just $5 (free with a Lyle Lovett concert ticket for the Monday night show). Tickets are available at The Crystal Cork or Dixon Main Street or www.thecrystalcork.com.

Monday, August 4 – Lyle Lovett and His Large Band to play the Dixon Riverfront. General Admission tickets are still available for $30 (includes the Sunday by the River pre-party on August 3). Lyle Lovett playing from 8 to 10 p.m. Gates open at 6:00 with special performances by Robbie LeBlanc and the Real Live Show and Chameleon. Tickets are available at The Crystal Cork or Dixon Main Street or www.thecrystalcork.com.

Wednesday, August 6 – Dixon City Market from 4- 7 p.m. on the Riverfront. The City Market showcases a focused list of premier, local, specialty food vendors. There will be live music, craft beer and wine tastings, kids activities, and face painting. Head down to Dixon's beautiful Riverfront to enjoy a mid-week meal, post-work glass of wine, and family-friendly market while shopping for specialty items.

Thursday, August 7
Family Night on the Riverfront. At 7 p.m. join us for FREE Culver’s ice cream and Jelly Belly jelly beans while supplies last and stay for a FREE showing of The Lego Movie at sundown (about 8 p.m.) Bring your favorite Lego creation along with you!

Community Picnic at Lowell Park  -- A perfect setting for an old-fashioned community picnic at Lowell Park, where Reagan once saved 77 lives as a lifeguard. Come enjoy FREE pontoon boat rides.  Enjoy a Community Cookout with Mama Ciminos cooking out. Dinner donation is just $3 for adults and kids 18 and under eat FREE while supplies last. 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Friday, August 8 – 144th National Guard Band to play a free concert from 6:30 – 8 p.m. Followed by a special performance by the Dixon Municipal Band from 8-9:30 p.m. on the Riverfront in downtown Dixon.

Saturday, August 9 – Alzheimer’s Association Annual Great Duck Race at 10 a.m. at the Dixon Riverfront. Winning duck gets $1,000! Ducks are 2 for $5, 12 for $25 or 50 for $100. Ducks are available in advance at the Alzheimer’s Association, 93 S. Hennepin Ave.

Old Settlers’ Log Cabin open for tours from 12 p.m.- 3 p.m. by the Lee County Genealogy Society. Free will donations accepted for fundraiser for a new roof for the cabin.

Saturday, August 9 – Second Saturdays Art Happenings from 6-8 p.m. in downtown Dixon. A variety of stores will have music and art happenings throughout the night. Saturday, August 9 and Sunday, August 10 – “The Art of Green” a special two-day event, created in part to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the John Deere Historic Site, will feature art exhibits and seminars, antique John Deere equipment and memorabilia displays, and tours of the John Deere Historic Site. Throughout the weekend, The Next Picture Show, located at 113 W. First Street, will exhibit a special collection of Walter Haskell Hinton art of almost 50 pieces from the Deere & Company art collection. This collection has not previously been on display in one showing to the public. On Saturday, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Nathan Augustine, Deere & Co. Art and Collections Manager will be available to ask questions about the collection and will offer a presentation at 7:00 p.m.

       Private collections of vintage John Deere equipment will be on display in Dixon on First Street between Galena and Hennepin Avenues. Collectors from around the area will display their finest Green machines along with other John Deere collectibles and memorabilia Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. On both days of the event, hourly shuttle service will be offered to bring visitors from downtown Dixon to the John Deere Historic Site in Grand Detour. The site will be open 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Admission to the Historic Site is$5, free for those 12 and under. The Art of Green event is sponsored by the John Deere Historic Site, The Next Picture Show, Sauk Valley Bank and Dixon Tourism.
