Informational Sessions Planend
Please join us for a
second informational meeting on the Downtown Dixon Streetscape
Project on March 5 from 4-6 p.m.. The
project consists of new curb and gutter, sidewalk, pavement, and lighting in
the downtown business district. This informational meeting will be utilized to update
the public of the status of the Downtown Streetscape Project and discuss the
preliminary staging and traffic control planned for the project.
In
addition to the March 5 meeting, Dixon
Main Street will host two additional informational
sessions on the streetscape. On Tuesday, March 4, the project will be the
subject at the monthly Shop Talk Merchant's Meeting from 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. at
Books on First.
And,
the March Lunch and Learn on Wednesday, March 19 also will be on the
Streetscape Project. The informational luncheon will focus on the planning and
staging of the project. The Lunch and Learn includes a $3 lunch as part of the
program at the Post House Ballroom in downtown Dixon.
March Second Saturdays
First up on the calendar is the March 8 Second Saturdays
event. With the weather a bit warmer now is a great time to head downtown for a
great night out. There is live music every weekend in downtown Dixon and lots of great art and food to be
consumed.
Shamrock Club's Annual Parade & Party
On March 15, it is the annual Rock River Valley Shamrock
Club St. Patrick's Day Parade and Party in Downtown
Dixon. The annual Parade & Party
starts with the Parade line-up at 1:30 at Dixon High School
with a start time of 3 p.m. Following the
parade, the party begins at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The usual 50/50
tickets will be available along with silent auctions and raffles that help fund
the local food pantry and the party. The best corned beef dinner in town,
prepared by the Knights, will be available for purchase as well. Music this
year will start at 5 p.m. and will be by the Irish Band “Reilly” from Milwaukee.
Founders Day presented by
BorgWarner
On April 11, you can join us for
the annual Founders' Day Celebration sponsored by BorgWarner. This year's
celebration will be a luncheon event at the Loveland Community House starting
at 11:30 a.m. A program on the early physicians in Dixon
and the starting of KSB
Hospital will be held
starting at 12 p.m. We will also honor this year's Langan Award winner for the
most outstanding local historian, and the McAlpine Award winner for
reinvestment in a downtown building. During the event, you can take in the
wonderful Loveland Community House and see the great changes they have made to
the facility this past year. New art is hanging up around the house and the
museum has several updates, as well. Lunch is $5, but admission to the event
and the Loveland Community House is free. Sponsored by Borg Warner, KSB

City-Wide Garage Sales
The Annual Dixon Community-wide Garage Sales are set for
April 25-26. Deadline to sign up for the sales is April 18. Cost to register a
sale is $20 and includes a listing and a description of the sale. The Sales
will be distributed through the Telegraph newspaper and at select businesses
the week of the sale, along with online at www.dixonmainstreet.com and
www.facebook.com/dixonmainstreet. The garage sales will be held rain or shine.
More than 50 sales are held each year
during this weekend. Registration forms are available at Roxies, Waterfront
Gifts, and Books on First. Forms are also available online at
